Well, I thought I had things figured out a bit, and then it dawned on me….  I’ve got to apply for some visa’s to gain access to some of the countries I’m going to be visiting! Luckily the European Union has Schengen Visas, which give you access for 180 days from Canada without having to apply or pay for anything. That is great! The snow finally melted enough for me to be able to get out on my bike multiple times and for long distances in the past few days, until I awoke to see MORE snow coming down! Weather is supposed to warm up nicely which should make things easier – which at that point maybe the street cleaners will come out and get rid of the gravel covering all the bike lanes! Haven’t been updating the site regularly but focusing on some other priorities in order to make the trip happen lately. Some highlights include being able to find “Bicycle Touring International” in a Bellingham, Washington used book store for $7, a wealth of information on the touring aspect, and various countries, along with great stats on weather and wind patterns! Also took the undertaking to order some supplies from Mountain Equipment Co-Op. Well, that didn’t take long! It turns out my Ortlieb Handlebar Bag is actually too small for my Rebel XSI! Time to order the large!

 

Managed to pick up the panniers and my Handlebar bag today from these guys while at the same time getting a super great deal on a waterproof jacket for the low price of $50 for their new years sale! The weather outside is frightful, and I’m chomping at the bit to get outside and start riding again.
