You know, have you ever noticed that the days before going away on vacation are filled with so much insanity and stress it sometimes makes it not worth the overall vacation because you are wound up so tightly like a clock? That seems to be my last few days. Juggling work committments, and last minute preparations and packings seem to have taken up any sort of spare time that was once available.
Jen made it down on Friday at abotu noon, 8 hours sooner than what we expected – which is good, as there was many loose ends, like dealing with putting new equipment on bike (she sipped the Kool-Aid and got a Brooks saddle as well), some new marathons, and a funny issue with her derailleur, to be resolved by a mobile bike mechanic that was found on craigslist. There’s also the issue of both our cyclometers – Jen’s wire broke (not once! but twice!) and the way mine was mounted, it cracked under pressure taking a sharp turn. The things you learn! This was my backup cyclometer, so not entirely too concerned.
So, at the end of it all, we’re way overpacked, have far too much food and are excited to figure this all out. Posts will be minimal! Wish us luck!
