Into the Heartland

What a surprise Ohio has turned out to be. Maybe its the weather cooling down from its highs of 98 degrees to more manageable levels, the disappearance of the steep grades, or a change in my daily routine, but I’ve got to say, I’m really enjoying what is going on out here at this time of the year. I’ve decided now that for days that I don’t have a solid place to stay via services such as Couchsurfing or Warmshowers I’m going to take it easy during the hot pats [read more]

Unexpected States and Losses

What a crazy set of days that have gone by – I’m alive and well, but desperately need a shower, or I’ll take a hose or anything just to wash this salt that is on my body and turning my clothes into something like they came out of the 1960′s with the tie-dye like sweat patterns. I went to sleep last nite to let my drenched clothes air dry, and when I woke up they were still just as wet. Oh well, put them back on and move forward, rather [read more]

The hills certainly started taxing my physical energy and mental sanity over the last few days of riding, as I left [read more]

Welcomed Changes All Around

The rapture came and went, I awoke this morning expecting to hear silence, and weaving my way through stalled cars, dodging zombies along the way, but in fact – it was life as usual. The only thing that did come out of it is that my boot was filled with insects and spiders as I packed everything up in a small little grove just outside of York, Pennsylvania. I later on found out during the day that it wasn’t supposed to happen till 6pm EST, so I planned my day, [read more]

City Saturation

I’ve hit my wall and it’s time to head for the hills. My attitude is starting to deteriorate and I’m starting to get growly at traffic, telling them to go places where the sun doesn’t shine, and sometimes out loud. Frequent beeps of the horn are starting to drive me nuts, and a few taunts from drivers to tell me to ‘Get on the sidewalk, that’s what its for’ are enough to make my blood boil. Because of this I haven’t been myself for the past 3 days in Philadelphia, [read more]
